Today is fellow monster, Erin Schechtman's, birthday! Impossibly young, incredibly talented, and a true friend. It's always a pleasure to paint next to you and I have treasured the short time that I've known you. Have a wonderful birthday!

I've been playing around with the Weebly web site builder and am seriously considering building my own website. Of course, I'll still be keeping this blog, but incorporating it into the new site. I was just going to use an RSS widget to show my posts from here. Turns out that looks like crap and doesn't show my pictures. Being an artist, that's kind of important.
So a far less interesting, yet prettier, option is using an iframe that would just show the portion of this blog's posts. Basically, you are putting a window on your website that only shows the posts. Confusing? Sure, but it will make more sense when I have it done.
Its also an opportunity to do a new interactive banner. A far more robust banner. A banner that I will actually follow through on! Oh me and my lofty goals. So I've been playing with the idea of a camera flying around to different areas within the banner. I have 3 sections so far (see picture above).
I'd love to give this a shot and have it done in the next couple of months. Weebly seems pretty easy so the actual site design should come easy. Thank god I don't have to learn HTML. Isn't the future great?

Me and the Rust Belt Monsters are trying a somewhat less official return for the challenges section of our blog. So Tim Switalski told me that he was going to draw Boba Fett, so I said I would also. Knocked out a sketch, inks, and flat color pretty quickly. Then I got super busy. Normally I like a drawing a lot and then slowly grow to hate it. This was kind of reversed.
I wasn't crazy about it after my first pass, but after I rendered out my highlights and shadows, it grew on me. I'm hoping I can jump on more challenges as time opens up.
Stay tuned for more.

Busy, busy, busy times over here on NeedYourDisease (first time pretending it has an official location). Scirra announced a 6 week game jam and I have been tooling away at that for the last few days. I've toyed with a couple jams, but their compact time frames coupled with my greatly condenced "daddy" schedule made getting anything close to finished difficult. Hopefully a 6 week challenge can change that.
I came across the above game a couple weeks ago. Its retro graphics and simple (yet challenging) game play felt like a good jumping off point for an idea I had. I'll post screenshots of my first prototype next. Week.
Till then, check out the video above and grab the game. Its free and the adds aren't as intrusive as you'd think.
See you next week.

Fun night at Cleveland's Drink and Draw Social Club with the rest of the Rust Belt Monster Collective. Tim Switalski said that his them for this week is Deadman, so I took that as an opportunity to draw him myself. Maybe I'll throw some color on him. Who knows.

What an amazing time Free Comic Book Day was this year. Not sure what changed, but there were next to no nerves going in. The crowd was great and I got to meet a lot of really cool people. Some from as far as London. See, people from around the world come to Cleveland. I thought I would post a collection of some of the art I did AT and FOR the event.
